The Rev. Mariann Budde, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, will be Preaching and Presiding on Sunday, May 11th.

Easter Sunday
Let's celebrate Resurrection Sunday together! Please join us for a festive coffee hour fellowship in Frances Perkins Hall following the service.

The Great Easter Vigil
The liturgy intended as the first (and arguably, the primary) celebration of Easter in the BCP (pp. 284-95). It is also known as the Great Vigil. The service begins in darkness, sometime between sunset on Holy Saturday and sunrise on Easter, and consists of four parts: The Service of Light (kindling of new fire, lighting the Paschal candle, the Exsultet); The Service of Lessons (readings from the Hebrew Scriptures interspersed with psalms, canticles, and prayers); Christian Initiation (Holy Baptism) or the Renewal of Baptismal Vows; and the Eucharist. Through this liturgy, the BCP recovers an ancient practice of keeping the Easter feast.

Holy Saturday Liturgy of the Word
The Saturday after Good Friday, which recalls the day when the crucified Christ visited among the dead while his body lay in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea. In the Episcopal Church there is no eucharist on Holy Saturday. The BCP provides a simple liturgy of the word with collect and readings for the Holy Saturday service.

Stations of the Cross
The Way of the Cross or Stations of the Cross, is a profound devotion that meditates on the Passion of Christ, following a sequence of events from his condemnation to his burial. This practice originated from early Christian pilgrims visiting the actual locations of Jesus' suffering in the Holy Land.

Good Friday
The Friday before Easter Day, commemorates the crucifixion our Lord Jesus. Please join us at Noon for the Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday. At 7:00PM we will have the Stations of the Cross.

The Watch
This spiritual practice, known as a "watch," involves staying awake for prayer. It's traditionally observed before the Blessed Sacrament on Maundy Thursday at the Altar of Repose and can also be a vigil of prayer and comfort for the ill or dying, echoing Christ's plea in Gethsemane (Mt 26:40). Please contact the Parish office if you would like to participate by Thursday April 17th at 3:00PM

Maundy Thursday
The word “Maundy” in this day’s title comes from the Latin word “mandatum,” which means “commandment.” It is taken from the account from the Gospel according to John of Jesus’ washing of the disciples’ feet at the Last Supper. On this day we rejoice in Christ’s establishment of the Holy Eucharist (The Mass) as the “sure and certain” means for us to have communion with him and receive the redemptive power of his sacrifice into our lives. Please join us at 7:00PM for Sung Mass & Foot Washing.

Palm Sunday
The Sunday before Easter at which Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, and Jesus’ Passion on the cross are recalled. It is also known as the Sunday of the Passion. Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week. Please join us at 8AM for Said Mass or 11AM for Sung Mass.
