The Reverend William Stafford-Whittaker


Father William was ordained to the Deaconate in 1994 and to the Priesthood in 1995. Father William, an Englishman by birth, came to serve as our Rector in January 2015. Previously he served in three different parishes as an Assistant Curate, Assistant Priest and then Vicar of a parish in the Diocese of London, England. Father William was born in Manchester in the then County of Lancashire where he was locally educated. He also studied at Durham and received his theological training at Chichester Theological College, from where he graduated in 1994.

The Reverend Marilyn H. Jenkins

Associate Rector

Marilyn joined St. Monica and St. James as the Associate Rector after her ordination to the priesthood in June, 2018.  She is passionate about the Gospel and building up the Body of Christ.  Marilyn holds a Master of Divinity from Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. Prior to entering seminary Marilyn was a military officer for over 28 years.  She enjoys all outdoor activities to include golf and bike riding.  As a native Kansan and University of Kansas graduate you will find her cheering for her Jayhawks and Chiefs!

The Reverend Larry Donathan

Honorary Priest Associate

Father Larry was ordained to the priesthood in 1994. He served parishes in Anniston, AL and Wayne, PA. He was rector of St. John’s-Mt. Rainier here in the diocese from 1997-2003. He is currently an English as a second language instructor for DC Public Schools. Though a full-time teacher, he has remained active in parish ministry by engaging in supply work and serving the diocese in various capacities over the years. He now attends SMSJ and serves when called upon by the rector. He is a graduate of George Mason University and also holds advanced degrees from Virginia Theological Seminary and The American University. He has been a resident of Capitol Hill since 1997.
